Engage

Addressable Users

​(For Urban Airship Engage, Connect, or Insight contracts entered into on or after December 1, 2016.)

We measure the number of Addressable Users you can reach using Urban Airship’s Service in the previous billing month. An Addressable User is a software installation on a device managed by Urban Airship. At the beginning of every month we remove users who have uninstalled or were deactivated in the previous month.

Total Audience

(For Urban Airship Engage, Connect, or Insight contracts entered into prior to December 1, 2016.)

For billing purposes, Urban Airship determines the Total Audience that may utilize the applicable Urban Airship products/services on a monthly basis. Platform-based and e-commerce customer calculations for Total Audience are explained below.

iOS

The total number of unique installations, minus those that were uninstalled before the start of the current month.

  • For applications using the Urban Airship SDK for iOS, installations are tracked with an installation-specific identifier (User ID), and remain the same even if a device token changes. Uninstallations are recorded when the device token is deactivated.
  • For legacy integrations not using the Urban Airship SDK for iOS, installations are tracked by using the device token. Uninstallations are recorded when the device token is deactivated.

Android

The total number of unique Channel IDs that connected to an Urban Airship product/service or received a push notification using an Urban Airship product/service at least once in the past three months, minus those that were deactivated (uninstalled) before the start of the current billing month.

Amazon

The total number of unique installations, minus those that were uninstalled before the start of the current month.

Windows/Windows Phone

The total number of unique installations, minus those that were uninstalled before the start of the current month.

Whether a specific user has opted-in to receive push notifications or other Urban Airship products/services will not affect the determination of whether the user is part of the Total Audience.

Reach

Total Passes Installed

(For Urban Airship Reach contracts entered into or renewed on or after July 1, 2016)

For billing purposes, Urban Airship counts the total number of “Total Passes Installed” each month on a customer’s account. The Total Passes Installed count includes each Apple Wallet mobile wallet pass and Android Pay mobile wallet card that has been installed by an end user on a unique device during the current month, as well as those mobile wallet passes and/or mobile wallet cards that are still installed on devices from prior months.

Wallet passes and/or mobile wallet cards that fit the following conditions are counted in the month deleted or expired, but not the following months:

  • Wallet passes and/or wallet cards deleted individually on each device by end users or systematically by Urban Airship Reach customers.

  • Wallet passes and/or wallet cards that have expired on each device.

Mobile Wallet Items Under Management

(For Urban Airship Reach contracts entered into or renewed prior to July 1, 2016)

For billing purposes, Urban Airship counts the total number of “Wallet Items” each month on customer’s account that are managed by Urban Airship Reach. The Wallet Items under management count includes each unique Apple Wallet mobile wallet pass and Android Pay mobile wallet pass that was being managed by Urban Airship Reach during a given month. This includes Wallet Items that were created that month, as well as those wallet items still under management from prior months.

Wallet items that fit the following conditions are counted in the month deleted or expired, but not the following months:

  • Wallet items deleted individually by end users or systematically by Urban Airship Reach customers.

  • Wallet items that have expired.
